Bidar Heritage Center: An upcoming archive and learning museum in 2025

The idea to setup a 'Bidar Police Museum and Heritage Centre' departs from the conventional imagination of a museum that tends to fossilise history, rely upon expert- driven curations, and restrict access by copyright protected collections.
Instead this Centre will recognise the need to incorporate cultural, Institutional and social history of the place to,

i) Creating ways for the residents to remember, reconnect and renarrate their inherited legacies;
ii) Sensitise people to Police history, its evolution and humanised facets of police department and other institutions in Bidar;
iii) Resource centre for local residents, young scholars and regional universties alike to learn, add and expand various historical aspects of Bidar;
iv) Recognize local collectors as ‘Citizen curators' of public history and memory.

Following collection are being archived and curated in the first phase,

• Police history in Bidar (Old rifles, Evolution of uniforms, Historic Institu-
  tional structure, Stories and series of event around Police Action, etc)

• Artefacts (Khatati, Jewellery, Bidri, Zardosi, Bamboo works etc)
• Tools and implements (used by artisans, farmers, etc)

• Community narratives (Such as Rangarey, Kulsali, Gowli, Chudwa, Fhu-
  lare, Khumbara, Neikararu, etc)

• History of Urdu Journalism in Bidar (history of Journalism in Urdu, hand-
  written papers, Notable journalists - Khazi Arshad Ali)
• Photographic narratives (spontaneous and random stories of Bidar resi-
  dents)
• Household items and culinary items
• Historic court documents and Maps (from independent collectors &
  scholars in Bidar)
